How to Turn Off Your RV Solar System

If you need to work on your RV’s solar system, you may need to turn off all or part of your system. The following steps are the best practices for turning off your system:

  1. Ensure that your RV is not connected to shore or generator power.
  2. Turn the solar disconnect switch to “OFF”. If your solar array has a fuse as opposed to a disconnect switch, remove the fuse.
  3. Turn off all large loads (A/C’s, heaters, microwaves, etc.).
  4. Turn the inverter to “OFF”, using either the remote or the rocker switch on the inverter itself.
  5. Turn the house battery disconnect switch to “OFF”.

That’s it! When you’re ready to get it running again, simply follow the steps in reverse.

Keep in mind that some components (like the Victron SmartShunt battery monitor) may need time to produce accurately synced data.
